Implant Process
We undertake consultation, assessment with x-rays and, if needed, a CT-scan. A written treatment plan is then produced for patients, with a copy also sent to the referring dental surgeon. This letter details treatment options and all associated costs.
Once the plan has been accepted by the patient, study models and photographs are prepared, together with a working template which helps to accurately determine the ideal positioning of the implants.
Implant Placement
The placement of implants is a relatively simple process normally performed under local anaesthesia with intravenous sedation using a fully sterile technique. Although some implants can be loaded into function immediately or early on, we normally suggest the standard protocol of about three months for the bone to integrate before loading. The patient's own denture, or in some cases a simple adhesive bridge, can be worn during the healing phase.
The second stage takes place 3 to 6 months later when the tops of the implants are uncovered and firmly connected to the permanently secured replacement teeth.
